About the role
As High Voltage Systems Engineer your mission is to develop, integrate, and verify the aircraft’s high-voltage electrical system, covering the Energy Storage System (ESS), high-voltage power distribution, and HV/LV power conversion. You help ensure that the system architectures, functions, interfaces, and requirements are translated into a robust, safe, and certifiable solution for our eVTOL aircraft.
Working closely with specialists from propulsion, low-voltage electrical systems, avionics, structures, thermal management, testing, and flight-test teams, you contribute to the system-level definition and maturation of the high-voltage system. In addition, you coordinate technical activities with suppliers and external partners, ensuring that externally developed components and subsystems are aligned with program, interface, and certification needs.
What you will do
- Develop the high-voltage system architecture, functions, requirements, and interfaces, including ESS, high-voltage power distribution, and DC/DC conversion.
- Define and coordinate interfaces between the high-voltage system and adjacent systems such as propulsion, low-voltage electrical systems, avionics, thermal management, structures, and control.
- Prepare and maintain key system engineering documentation, including requirements, architectures, and interface descriptions.
- Support the planning and execution of integration, verification, and validation activities for high-voltage-related topics.
- Analyze technical issues, drive root-cause investigations, and support resolution across disciplinary boundaries.
- Coordinate technical topics with suppliers and external partners, including requirements alignment, interface clarification, issue follow-up, and review of technical deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with design, test, and supplier teams to ensure technical consistency and certification maturity of the high-voltage system.
what you bring
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Aerospace, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Have experience in the area of your responsibilities described above.
- Have strong motivation to work on complex aircraft systems and help bring them to flight readiness.
- Have knowledge in aerospace product development including requirements engineering and requirements-driven development.
- Have a structured and analytical mindset and enjoy working on technical interfaces across disciplines.
- Have experience with high-voltage systems, energy storage systems, electrical power distribution, and/or power conversion systems.
- Have experience in coordinating technical topics with suppliers or external development partners.
- Have a high level of self-management with the ability to work in a team, as well as an autonomous, target-oriented, and driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills.
- Have excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
Moreover, it would be helpful if you also
- Have hands-on experience with battery systems, contactors, precharge circuits, busbars, protection concepts, or DC/DC converters.
- Bring familiarity with systems engineering methods, requirements management, and interface control.
- Have experience with requirements management or engineering data tools.
- Have understanding of verification and validation activities on component, subsystem, and system level.
- Bring basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations and guidance material and industry standards.
- Have exposure to safety-critical development processes or aerospace certification environments.
- Have experience with electrical safety concepts, failure analysis, and development of high-voltage architectures.
- Have experience with supplier management, technical alignment, or review of external engineering deliverables.
