About the role
As a Visiting Finance Associate, you will work closely with our Head of Finance and take ownership of recurring finance, planning, analysis, and strategy-related topics. Your mission is tosupport transparent financial steering, improve operational workflows, andcontribute to high-impact projects across finance, strategy, and partnerships.
A key part of the role will be identifyingopportunities to automate, digitize, and improve finance-related workflows,including the implementation of AI-supported processes for reporting, analysis,documentation, and operational finance tasks.
What you will do
- Work directly with our Head of Finance on topics at the heart of ERC’s company-building journey, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and day-to-day finance operations
- Support recurring financial planning and analysis processes that create transparency on how the company is performing and where resources are allocated
- Take ownership of hands-on operational finance tasks such as invoice tracking, month-end close preparation, data checks, documentation, and financial process coordination
- Drive financeand strategy projects end-to-end, from structuring the problem and building analyses to deriving recommendations and presenting results
- Support high-impact ad-hoc projects, including grant applications, partnership economics, contract analysis, business cases, and investor-related analyses
- Identify, improve, and automate finance workflows, with a focus on building scalable processes, better data quality, and AI-enabled ways of working
- Work cross-functionally with teams across ERC to connect financial data, operational processes, and strategic decision-making
what you bring
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree programme in Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related field
- First relevant experience through internships or roles in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a high-growth startup finance team
- Strong analytical and structured thinking, with the ability to break down complex problems and work confidently with numbers
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear analyses, narratives,and presentations
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with financial modelling, reporting, or workflow automation is a plus
- Interest in AI tools, process automation, and digital workflows in a finance and operations context
- Low-ego team player who is motivated to work hands-on on operational finance topics while staying close to strategic decision-making
- Fluent in English; German is a strong plus
