About the role

As EWIS Design Engineer, your mission is to own the design and routing of the Electrical Wiring and Interconnection System of our eVTOL aircraft. You ensure the seamless interaction of all onboard systems by defining and connecting system interfaces across high-voltage, low-voltage, and data harnesses.

With your experience in EWIS design, you translate system needs into robust, well-integrated wiring solutions, enabling reliable system communication and operation. Beyond defining the EWIS architecture, you actively contribute to the development of EWIS components and collaborate closely with suppliers and regulatory partners, playing a key role in shaping the future of aerial mobility.

What you will do

  • Create an airworthy architecture and design for our EWIS.
  • Validate requirements for the EWIS according to valid airworthiness standards.
  • Develop technical solutions based on requirements in close cooperation with other system development teams regarding design, interfaces, and control.
  • Review engineering deliverables till certification maturity.
  • Document and maintain the EWIS.
  • Prepare tests and test set-ups for the EWIS.
  • Establish a valuable collaboration with suppliers for the EWIS.
  • Continuously challenge and improve the technical concepts, tools, and methods.

what you bring

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • Have at least 3 years of relevant experience in the area of your responsibilities described above.
  • Have good analytical skills to keep the overview in complex interconnections.
  • Bring experience with requirements engineering.
  • Have a clear understanding of safety-critical development processes.
  • Bring experience with requirements management tools.
  • Have strong motivation to establish processes and structures.
  • Have a high level of self-management with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomous target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills.
  • Have excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.

Moreover, it would be helpful if you also

  • Have hands-on experience in aerospace development (ARP4754) and with EWIS in airplanes (CS-25 Supbart H).
  • Have experience with airborne equipment qualification (DO160).
  • Have experience with EMI.
  • Bring basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations and guidance material and industry standards.

What we offer

  • Full-scale aerospace engineering — not concept slides.
  • A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn, backed by IABG and developed alongside TUM and DRF Luftrettung.
  • Competitive compensation.
